Annual salary range: Pay Grade H1P ($110,676.80 - $138,340.80 - $165,984.00)

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA
Metro) plans, administers, designs, constructs, and operates one of the nation’s largest transit and rail transportation systems in Los Angeles County. Additionally, it is one of the nation’s largest funders of multi-modal transportation and goods movement projects.

The Director of Transit Security supports the Chief of the System Security and Law Enforcement Division and leads the overall functioning of the Transit Security Department. This position partners with the Director of Physical Security to manage Metro’s critical infrastructure protection mission, partners with the Director of Transit Court and Compliance to conduct fare enforcement operations, and is principally responsible for revenue protection, security related communications/dispatching, and security patrols.
Qualifications The ideal candidate is a change agent, committed to innovation, problem-solving and open communication. The candidate will be able to build and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues in operations, customer service, planning, emergency management and Metro’s law enforcement partners. Being able to develop relationships with other departments is crucial for the success of this position. The ideal candidate will have an in depth understanding of how the transit security team supports agency goals toward ridership growth. A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Urban Planning or other related field and 8 years of management experience in transit operations, transit security, transportation planning, or emergency management PLUS Completion of coursework in Incident Command and a valid California Class C driver license is required. A Master’s degree in related field desirable.
