California State Sheriffs' Association Issues Press Release on U.S. Supreme Court's Denial of Stay
"The California State Sheriffs’ Association is disappointed that the United States Supreme Court denied the State's request for a stay when there is substantial evidence that conditions at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation have improved dramatically since the state began realigning the prison population to county jails, said CSSA President, Sheriff Gregory J. Ahern. "As the State moves forward to comply with the three-judge panel’s orders, we urge the Governor to do everything in his power to reduce the prison population by placing inmates in other secure facilities rather than allowing the early release of dangerous felons."
